The Extended Cold Weather Clothing System (ECWCS) is a protective clothing system developed in the 1980s by the United States Army Natick Soldier Research, Development and Engineering Center. This quality and durable ECWCS Generation I jacket is the perfect choice for all weather conditions. It features special 3-layer fabric system that is waterproof, insulates and gives an ideal protection against wind, providing moisture infiltration, evaporation and promotes ventilation at the same time. Presented parka features cobra style hood with adjustable nylon pulls. The hood itself goes with press studs and Velcro patches for attaching fur trimming (not included). There is a sturdy two-way, full-front slide fastener that, when fully fastened, can provide full-face protection, leaving only the eyes uncovered. Okay I did a lot of research before I bought this jacket. I did want a military style jacket look but most importantly for me is that the jacket was wind and waterproof but breathable and not too heavy. I looked at a lot of high street brands like Berghaus even Barbour but opted for this jacket even over the Mil-tec one which is its direct competitor as it just sounded a lot better made. I literally got this jacket yesterday and haven't worn it in the rain yet, but 3 things to say at this stage are:
1. The supplier is excellent, had it delivered within 36 hours of order, and courier service is best I've seen, was sent a text message with an alloted hour slot for delivery and it was delivered at this time, in the evening.
2. VERY IMPORTANT - you must order a size down from your size. I am a chunky guy, 44 inch chest, 33 inch waist, 13 stone, 5,11 height. Naturally a size large would seem right, even if you go by the measurements on the items description. But after all...

Excellent piece of kit
I'm out all day in all weathers as a dog trainer and behaviourist. This jacket has kept the weather out 100%. The venting system is great and allows you to work hard without that boil in the bag feeling. Highly recommended.
