Mountain Equipment Fitzroy Jacket
This product is a great outdoor jacket for the serious mountaineer or climber!
I have many friends who work in the Outdoor professiona as Instructors and they swear by it.
I have tried it in the Welsh Mountains and Derbyshire crags, it has and is performing well, keeps me warm and shwer proof in practice whilst climbing walking in the light rain and drizzle.
Very good product and worth the money, with plenty of pocket space and adjustable cuffs!
fits nicely over the helmet and keeps the wind out too.
only negative is the yellow zips!!! :)
Good but not as warm as I was expecting
As a committed down user, I was tempted by the Fitzroy as it utilises the relatively new "Primaloft" insulation, which is known to maintain its lofting ability when damp which was my primary reason for getting this jacket. Also, as an ME product, I knew the quality should be good and from this aspect, I wasn't disappointed.
Overall I think this jacket performs well and I like that it packs away remarkably small (supplied stuff sac). It does shed the weather nicely given that it's not waterproof (although when it's raining proper, I pop a cagoule on top). It fits me snugly and both the inner and outer fabrics are soft to the touch. I bought the black version because I wanted to wear it about town as well as on the hills and it's got a pleasant, low-key appearance, which suits me.
However, the two zipped hand pockets at the front, whilst having some insulation and gently-fleeced inside, do little to warm my hands or keep them warm - something I've not noticed with...
